So we have dealt with our first major illness. Not that I'm complaining, it has been over a year, but I wouldn't mind if it is 18 years before we deal with it again. I'm not sure who actually did better with it. A must have been sick for days before we finally figured it out. We had been watching her for a while, but finally got the message. What form did the message come in you ask? Ok, well you didn't but I'm going to tell you anyway. It came in the puke form, multiple times!! Actually so many times I lost count.
She really hasn't been herself for a few days but she had her 1st year well baby visit on Thursday and the doctor said it sounded like she was getting over whatever she had. So we watched her but were kind of expecting to get out of it. She ate a good breakfast compared to her recent meals and played like normal so I thought she was getting better. But after her nap she wanted to sit on my lap. I put her there and she promply puked everywhere!! And that begun the wonderful day.
To make a long story short, we went to the urgent care place and got ABSOLUTELY no help. The doctor said it was a virus and sent me home with informational brochures. (Doesn't she know all that stuff is on the internet?) A couldn't keep anything down though. Not even water, pedialite, or bread. So after many hours of puking and cuddling (and anyone who knows A knows she must have been very sick to be cuddling with mommy) I took her to the ER. After spending literally hours in the waiting room fighting a crabby baby who was so thirsty she keep trying to steal another babies bottle, we finally got to see a doctor. After two seconds of looking at her he told me it was a severe ear infection. He said it was so red and inflammed he didn't know how any doctor would miss it!! Thats what I would like to know too!! Especially since I held my screaming baby down while the doctor at urgent care looked into her ear and apparently saw nothing??? I dunno, a little confused there. She got a shot though and was allowed to go home.
To put a good ending on the story, she still slept through the night (YES!!) and woke up ready to play. She has keep everything down (as far as I know, but I am at work) and is getting back to being herself. Whatever is in that shot should be in our bathroom cabinet!! I can't believe how quickly it worked.
Ohh, and the new baby decided to make yesterday the day it made its presence known. I've been feeling it for a while now, but yesterday it must not have been amused with whatever was going on that was taking mommas attention. A laying all over me and my (fifth) choice of pants must have been cutting into its personal space because I swear a few times I could feel the baby on the outside. Is it too soon for that?

Party Recap
Ok, so I meant to get on and tell you all about A's birthday party but, surprise, I was busy. To be fair to myself, I did get online a couple of times to do it but never actually typed any words. So a quick summary, her party went pretty well. Pretty much everyone showed up late (really late) but I'm not really surprised. I should have lied about the time and said it was sooner, that way everyone would have been on time. It was a good party though and A dug into her cake. She got tons of great presents and has been figuring out creative new ways to "play" with them (i.e. crawl on them) and give her parents a heartattack. I know I already sent out pictures and you should be getting a copy of the video once our computer gets back from the Geek Squad. The motherboard crashed so who knows how long that will take and what will still be on there when we get it back. Luckily, we have learned our lesson before, and have backed everything up. Thank goodness for well learned lessons!!

Ok, I've finally decided to give this blog thing a shot. I figure with family and friends half way across the country and others right in our own town that we rarely see, it might be worth I try. I make no promises, however, in how often I will be blogging but I can guarantee it will probably be more often then I call you. Which I know isn't saying much. I'm going to try to make this blog mostly about the children, but you will get updates on J and I whenever I see fit.
So to begin, A's first birthday was earlier this week. To be honest, I don't really like to talk about it. Is that normal for a mother?? All my friends have planned these elaborate first birthday parties complete with circus rides and 1,000 pictures and I just wanted to skip that calendar day. I made it through though with the minimal amount of excitement. We will see how the party goes this weekend. There will actually be presents, balloons, and cake so I won't be able to ignore it as well. Yes, you read that right. I didn't even give my daughter a present on her birthday. To be fair to myself, J can't hold a present back for anything. Every time we bought something for A she was playing with it that same day. But nonetheless, she didn't get anything from us on her actual birthday. Ohh well, it isn't like she will know anyway.
For those of you who haven't seen us in awhile, A is now walking. The day she got her wheels she hasn't even thought about crawling. Unfortunately, I think she is going to be too much like her momma. She is as independant as can be. You will be lucky to get her to sit on your lap for two seconds (unless you are daddy) and there is no way you will get a hug or a kiss. Forget it!! She has also learned the meaning of no and isn't afraid to tell you about it. We bought her a miniture chair (for her birthday) that looks exactly like our livingroom furniture and she stands on it all the time, which is against the rules. She is also very good at testing mommy and daddy's patience.
Ok, that is probably it for now. Here is the telling time. We will see how soon I get back on to update you all.
